ABIA,  A STATE UNDER SLAVERY; WHERE THE PEOPLE LOVE THEIR CHAINS – BY EKS STEPHENS

Abia will be the first state to be re-colonised if the British were to arrive again at Ukwa and begin to share only £20. Abia youth and not too old will hurriedly surrender themselves to slavery again as they would believe that they have been ’empowered’.

In Abia, loyalty is as cheap as N2k. For the educated, a PA appointment of N50k to N80k does the trick and they end up writing against themselves, defending the indefensible.

It is no longer news that some people who are alleged to have put Abians into abject poverty were arrested few days ago, yet the same youth and not too old in the state are busy defending the righteousness of the alleged abusers of public funds. Most are afraid to speak up, not for fear of their lives but because of the illegal monthly stipends they receive or the bribes they are awaiting or the bribes they have been given.

Many previous vocal firebrands now stay away from anything that has to do with the alleged abusers of Abia’s public funds. They are now afraid to speak up. Once you sell yourself cheap, you lose your dignity!

Some will write long epistles about how their areas have been marginalised by the government but will turn around the next day to start praising the same government. The same set of youth are busy brainwashing others that no arrests were made. What a disgusting set of young people!

A state where a politician can make the same promise 20 times with no action and the same Abia youth will go in his defence. No consequences! A recent example is the symbol of shame – The Osisioma Flyover, where the government has given completion dates for the project at least 20 times, yet so many educated Abians celebrated the ‘Kinetic Abia’ childish and basic lies posted by the commissioner of information yesterday! What a colonised people!

A state where its radio stations are afraid to announce the arrest of alleged abusers of public funds, who are fingered to have underdeveloped the state and ran a Bonnie & Clyde system of governance. Yet between Jan and June 2021 alone, BCA was funded with N314m of Abia’s public funds to say what the government wants them to say!

Every night I listen to them read out sycophantic commentaries about the governor who we all know to be performing below average.

The worst is that the radio stations cannot criticise the poor performance of the government in power, rather they praise the government to high heavens.

A state where a former commissioner of finance tells you that billions disappeared and the youth kept mute and their only reaction was to abuse the commissioner.

A state where another alleged fraudster of a governor was jailed but technically got himself free and the same people he raped their future took to the streets in wild jubilation that their slave master had been freed! What a people!

A state where civil servants are owed wages and they are even afraid to speak up. Telling them to demonstrate will be like asking a cow to pass through the eye of a needle.

A state where one man stays in his bedroom and imposes an unpopular candidate on the state and goes ahead to use stolen funds to buy him victory. This has happened twice and may repeat in 2023.

What other form of SLAVERY is bigger than this? Abia is under SLAVERY!

The people are mentally backwards and enslaved. They also love their chains! You become an enemy even from the most educated amongst them once you ask their slave masters for more performance or accountability!

What an irony! A self-proclaimed God’s own state became the devil’s workshop and a object of mockery among its peers!

Who will liberate us?
