AHMED MUSA DONATES N2 MILLION TO KINGSLEY OBIEKWU, A MEMBER OF ATLANTA ’96 GOLD MEDAL WINNING TEAM

Kingsley Obiekwu, a member of the ’96 Atlanta Olympics gold medal winning Dream Team, received a kind donation of N2 million from Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, after speaking recently about his financial woes.

Obiekwu was reported to be working as a driver in Enugu. He recently revealed that he uses his only car for business transportation to support his family.

Obiekwu, a member of the Order of Niger (MON), revealed his troubles in an interview with the Nigerian News Agency (NAN) on Tuesday in Awka.

The defender played for Enugu Rangers and Udoji United, also played in the Dutch league for Go Ahead Eagles.

The former defender fondly known called Shagari in his playing days, said things had not been rosy since he returned to Nigeria in 2008.

Obiekwu said he coaches INGAS FC Enugu has to combine coaching work with the commercial transport business to make ends meet.

He also claimed that the fact that his former employees owed him more than N6 million cumulatively had also made things difficult for him.

“Yes, I am a commercial carrier; there is nothing to hide about it. The man has to do what is legal to pay his family’s bills.

“I have four children at Enugu State University of Technology and my last child is in the fifth grade of elementary school,” he said in the NAN interview.
