…Vows to sponsor scholarship bill for Abia miracle children
The Action People’s Party, (APP) candidate for Ikwuano State Constituency, of Abia State, Hon. Wisdom Lan Anyaragbu says he will sponsor a Bill to make Government constitutionally responsible for the welfare of set of children born in the State.
Hon. Anyaragbu stated this when he, alongside his team, visited Amarachi Nwojo, the young woman who gave birth to a set of quintuplets at the Federal Medical Centre, Abia State,
Presenting his gift of cash to the 24-years-old undergraduate student of Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, Anyaragbu admitted that taking care of of a set of children could be challenging “especially considering the present economy in the State and Nigeria in general.
He stressed that by enacting a Law that would accommodate triplets, quadruplets, quintuplets, etc. as Government’s children would help relieve the poor parents of the uphill task of catering for such set of children.
“We can be able to make Laws which would mandate Government to take responsibility for multiple children like this because this is a miracle. It doesn’t happen overnight and even though someone undergoes a laboratory test, it can’t easily come out quintuplets like this at a stretch. So, that’s why I say it’s a miracle.”
“We’ll stipulate it in the Law that in such rare cases, goverment should see to the wellbeing of the babies. But, if people like us go into the House, we’ll ensure that we sponsor a Bill in that regard and today, she’s from my alumni, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike, MOUAU. There’s need to move the motion and definitely, it could be some other person tomorrow. But, by God’s grace, these ones will end up being children of grace, they’ll benefit from the grace because they’re the ones to open the door. God will see you through and bless you and your family. He shall provide all what you need for the training of these babies particularly their education. Because, I believe that as a student, it was out of your quest to explore your potentials that you found yourself at MOUAU and you’ll not stop there and at the end of the day, you’ll graduate either before or after election.
He, therefore, advised the lactating mother not to hesitate to seek assistance from his team in time of need, smas he pledged to, as much as much as he possibly could, support in the training of the babies.
“I want to encourage you and also pray that whatever is needed for the upbringing of the children will be miraculously provides for by the special grace of God. On behalf of myself and my humble team, I present this token as my own little way to support you. It may be little or nothing by it’s from the depth of my heart so I can also tap from the grace. Just like our campaign name goes, hence “Grace Mandate” and as we already know, grace qualities the unqualified. And by the same grace of God, we’ll come out victorious and when that happens, by the special grace of God, we’ll sponsor bills that will accommodate this type of children, thereby making them Government’s responsibility. Because in Nigeria, there’s no Law that guarantees the protection of the interest of this type of children in Government.
Responding, the 24-years old mother of the babies thanked the House of Assembly hopeful, while promising to take care of the babies whom she described as “bunch of blessings from God Almighty”.
