The Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba, has queried the former Commander of the IGP Intelligence Response Team (IRT), Abba Kyari, over his dalliance with Ramon Abbas, also known as Hushpuppi, who is being held in the United States.
The office of the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) is also looking into the request of extradition to the United States of America.
The querry came after the Special Investigation Panel (SIP), which probed the alleged indictment of Kyari by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) submitted their report.
The DIG Joseph Egbunike-led panel in its report established that there were series of communication between Hushpuppi and Kyari.
But the panel didn’t recommend the extradition of Kyari as it couldn’t be established that he committed any crime in the US soil.
But the panel recommended sanctioned by the appropriate to be carried out by the authorities here.
It is left for the AGF to advise if there is a ground to extradite him to the U.S.
Force spokesman, Frank Mba, in a statement said: “The committee submitted its report and the IGP has forwarded their findings to the appropriate authorities, which have oversight function on the police, specifically the PSC, which I believe is currently reviewing it.”
In the same vein, Dr Umar Gwandu, Media Aide to the AGF and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, has this to say:
“In line with the provision of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that of the extant laws, the AGF will do the needful”
