The Governor of Abia State Governor, Dr.Okezie Victor Ikpeazu has finally met the Abia-born electricity transformer innovator and awarded him full 5-year undergraduate scholarship.
“Today, I met with Mr Solomon Ukoha, the man in the video that went viral last week where he showcased a miniature version of a crude oil-powered substation which he constructed using locally sourced materials. Immediately I came across the video, I directed that he be sought for a meeting with me because beyond what we hoped to do for him as an Abian to energize and promote his innovation, I was personally eager to witness first hand with a sense of pride this substation constructed by one of our young ones.
“So my joy knew no bound when it happened today! I have therefore, in the name of Abia State Government, granted him a 5-year full scholarship to any University of his choice. I also advised him to train other youths in the area of similar innovations.
“It is my belief that with such innovations, the perennial power challenges faced by the country will be reduced to the barest minimum, hence, our interest in helping this young man further his education, hone his skills & be of great benefit not only to Abia but to the entire nation as a whole.
“Recall that I’ve consistently made efforts to promote indigenous products. This is a tacit endorsement of the ingenuity of the average Nigerian youth, & many of these creative minds are found in Abia.
“We’ll now kick start the process of working on laws compelling the State government & other government agencies to patronize locally made products as a way of further encouraging local manufacturers, inventors and innovators in Abia.”
