IT FEELS GREAT BEING CELEBRATED WHILE ALIVE – KANAYO O. KANAYO

Legendary Nollywood actor, Kanayo O. Kanayo, says he feels so great to be celebrated while still alive and not when one is dead.

On the 16th of Oct. 2021, Kanayo received the 2020 Sun Newspaper Nollywood Icon award for all he has done for the movie industry.

Kanayo who was still basking in the euphoria of the awards took to his Instagram page to express his joy and gratitude for the award.

Kanayo wrote: “It feels so great to be honoured and celebrated. Thanks for celebrating me when I am alive.

“Sun has risen and it will always shine. Thanks to Sun Newspaper, all my fans, friends, well-wishers and enemies alike.

“It is done, all for Nollywood.”

Kanayo hails from Mbaise in Imo State. He is the second son and third out of five children. He is a divorcee and has four children, two girls and two boys respectively.

Kanayo in 1992 made his debut movie appearance in the film Living In Bondage.

Kanaya has starred in over 100 films. He was nominated in 2008 for African Movie Academy Award for Best Actor in the movie “Across the Niger”.

He has featured in various Nollywood blockbuster movies which includes Lion Heart and Professor JOHNBULL where he portrayed the character of an intelligent and achieved educated man.

His most recent movies are Up North and Living In Bondage: Breaking Free.

He is currently a United Nations ambassador and bears the title of MFR.
Kanayo was among various Nigerians honoured by the government in 2014 during the centenary celebration.

He is a graduate of Law from the University of Abuja in the year 2018. He also finished his Law School from the Abuja Law School located at Bwari, Abuja in the year 2020.
