Thiery Henry, the Arsenal and Barcelona legend talks about his time in Barcelona and what he saw Lionel Messi do every day.
“I don’t know what Cristiano Ronaldo does in training when he gets angry, but I saw what Messi does and he’s really weird.
“You know what happens during training, sometimes you get fouled and you ask for a foul, but the coach intervenes and asks to continue playing. We were playing 7 against 7, in a space that was not small, we were playing about half of the field.
“When Messi was fouled and not charged, he would leave the discussion and go back to the goalkeeper asking for the ball, telling him, ‘Give me the ball.’
“In Barcelona training, and in order to reach the other goal, you have to pass Yaya Toure, Busquets, Puyol, Rafa Marquez, or any of the defenders, but Messi was dribbling everyone and passing them and scoring the goal. I don’t know many players who are able to do this, but during my career, I’ve never seen anyone else do it like that.
“He says to the goalkeeper, ‘Give me the ball’, then dribble everyone and score!”
