Lionel Messi has finally scored his first for PSG. It’s a typical Messi trademark goal.
The Argentine scored in the 74th minute to put PSG ahead by two goals against Man City.
Idrissa Gueye scored early in the first half to give PSG the lead. Messi would have to wait until the 74th minute to score his first goal for his new side. The Argentine collected the ball from the right-hand side of the pitch before making a run into the centre.
A nice one-two pass with Kylian Mbappe set Messi up just outside the box with a flick and Messi acted quickly and buried the ball into the top right-hand corner of the net.
Le Pairc des Princes erupted into cheers as the ball flew passed Ederson in goal. Messi jumped with joy and was surrounded by his fellow teammates to congratulate him on his first goal for the club.
People have started saying that he will be a flop at PSG, some said he is already a flop, because he didn’t score in one or two matches and was substituted in one over injury. They forgot that Messi is not just about scoring goals, he does everything; dribbles, passes, creates, assists and causes trouble for the opposition as two or more players had to put eyes on him at every given time.
Last night and I saw same Messi that played for Barca at work, trying to make a run at a well packed midfield and defense against arguably the best team in Europe at the moment. Even if he had not scored, he played wonderfully well with his movements and passes.
City had better possession of the game and was the better team of the night, just like they were against Chelsea some days ago, but PSG had Lionel Messi. That was the only difference. City doesn’t have a goal poacher like Messi, maybe they would have scored from their numerous attacks at the post of PSG.
