PDP ELECTS 25-YEAR-OLD MUHAMMED SULEIMAN AS NATIONAL YOUTH LEADER

In what seems to be a departure from the norm in the past where people who are above the age of 50 are appointed or elected as National Youth leaders of political parties in Nigeria, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has elected Muhammad Kadade Suleiman, 25, as its National Youth Leader at the party’s just concluded National Convention in Abuja.

Suleiman who is an indigene of Kaduna state won the election polling 3,072 to defeat his challenger Usman Elkudan who had polled 219 votes.

Speaking on such feat, Muhammed said: “I’m Mohammed Kadade Suleiman. I’m 25 years old, barely two years older than our beloved party.

“I symbolise both the content and character of the office I’m vying for. Over the years, our great party, PDP has been the subject of mockery and ridicule by the opposition, especially when persons considered to be old bred emerge as our National Youth Leaders.

“I have a strong belief and conviction that without a strong visionary youth leadership to mobilise the youth no strategy will be executed effectively.”
