SAMUAL KALU COLLAPSES IN LIGUE 1 GAME

Nigerian player, Samuel Kalu who plays for Bordeaux in the French Ligue 1 collapsed on the pitch just five minutes into his side’s clash with Marseille last night.

He was allowed to continue play after receiving treatment from medical staff who called in to treat him, but he was substituted eight minutes later.

Bordeaux players were preparing to form a defensive wall at a free-kick when Kanu collapsed to the turf in the 25-degree Marseille heat.

His team-mates formed a human shield around him to shield him from the heat.

He later got up and continue playing on before he was replaced by Remi Oudin.

As he walked off the field, opposition fans stood up to clap him off at Stade Velodrome stadium.

The cause of the collapse is not known yet as his coaches feared a cardiac arrest before he was resuscitated.

This is not the first time that Kalu has collapsed on the football pitch. On the eve of Nigeria’s Africa Cup of Nations opener in Egypt in 2019, Kalu was rushed to hospital after he collapsed in training due to what was said to be ‘severe dehydration’.
