Some of the invited Super Eagles players have started arriving the team’s camp for their AFCON 2022 double qualifiers this month against Benin on March 27 and Lesotho in Lagos four days.
Ahmed Musa, the team captain, Troost Ekong, Semi Ajayi, Ola Aina, Henry Onyekuru and Oghenekaro Etebo have also boosted the camp with their presence.
Few eyebrows were raise over the invitation of team captain; Ahmed Musa, who has been club-less since October 2020.
Gernot Rohr’s men will battle the Squirrels at the Charles De Gaulle Stadium on Saturday, March 27 before returning to the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos for the Lesotho clash.
Nigeria currently sit atop of Group L with eight points after four games and will hope for victory in their two remaining games to make the finals in Cameroon next year.
Benin are one point behind Nigeria and will need to deny them maximum points after their encounter this weekend if they must stand a chance to qualify for the competition next year.
