Tanker drivers block Ariria axis of Enugu Portharcourt expressway

Economic activities around the Ariaria International Market Aba and environs  have been brought to a standstill since November 2nd, 2022 as tanker drivers have cordoned off the Ariria axis of the Enugu- Port Harcourt express way in protest of the very bad condition of the road.

Tanker drivers

All vehicular movement have been stymied as tanker have been used to block the double lane express way. No movement is possible from Port Harcourt to Aba and vice versa.

The terrible conditions of the road is  can at best be described as horrifying. Using the road is an arduous experience both for the drivers and passengers. One can count up to 3 or 4 trailer vehicles lying on its side along the road. This has cost untold losses worth billions of naira to both the drivers and the owners of merchandises lost in transit due to bad road.

Efforts made to plead with the trailer and tanker drivers to evacuate their trailers proved abortive. Pleas from road users and other citizens fell on deaf ears as the drivers reiterate their resolve to continue their protest until the Governor of Abia state comes to the location and tell them practical measures to be undertaken to make the road better for all road users.
