This is heart wrenching. The videos and pictures of the school and the children therein are not from one riverine community that is hidden nor is it from the 70s.
This is the present state of Urhiapele Mixed Secondary School, Sapele, Delta State and the videos and pictures were taken on the 4th day of May 2021. This is a shame to the Delta State Government and a crime against these innocent children.
Delta State is an oil rich state and the Government receives it’s share of 13% allocation from the federation account of oil revenue monthly, . This is an embarrassment to the good people of Delta State. If the numerous aides of the Governor cannot bring this very ugly situation to the Governor, I wonder of what use and value is their appointment to the Governor.
Schools have resumed and these children should not be allowed to study under this very deplorable conditions. They deserve better. I call on all those responsible for this embarrassment to rectify this very avoidable situation. Enough of this impunity.
It is our job as citizens to engage the government and hold them accountable as well as offering suggestions on how to better the lives of citizens. At this point in time, my organization, the Joint Legal Action Aids (JLAA) a.k.a Joint Legal Advocacy Aids Foundation will be mobilizing and liaising with relevant stakeholders and the press to ensure that this school will be given the needed and desired facelift and made fit for learning and also ensure that whoever is responsible for this embarrassment is brought to book.
Please let’s share this post and make it go viral. Let’s make it trend collectively until the right persons hear the cry of these children. We can do it. Let’s use our contacts and connections to make this happen.
Enough is enough!
