THE REMAINS OF INIUBONG UMOREN FINALLY LAID TO REST

The remains of Iniubong Umoren, the 26-year-old University of Uyo (UNIUYO) Philosophy graduate, who was raped and killed by Frank Uduak Akpan and buried in a shallow grave has been buried.

Miss Umoren, an orphan, was buried on Friday at her hometown, Nung Ita, Ikot Essien in Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.

The victim was kidnapped, raped and killed in April while honouring a fake job interview in the suburbs of the state capital, Uyo.

The burial was conducted by a local congregation of Faith Tabernacle Church.

According to the Pastor during the burial sermon “It is written that a man will die but woe unto him that caused the death,”

“Every man would die someday but what follows after death should be important for everyone”

The crowd that graced the burial were mostly students from the University of Uyo.

The burial ceremony was brief and the people around gripped by grief.

Miss Umoren’s sister fainted during the burial but was later resuscitated.

The students sang solidarity songs, demanding justice for their slain ex-student.

Udo Kieran, a member of the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly representing Oruk Anam State Constituency, and Kingsley Akpan, Chairman of Oruk Anam Local Government Area were among the dignitaries who attended the burial.

Unyime Idem, who is a Federal Lawmaker from the area, arrived after the corpse had been buried. He went to the graveside and paid his respects.

We hope she finally finds peace
