WHO WINS THE ANAMBRA GOVERNORSHIP ELECTION?

1. EMMANUEL ANDY UBA

Emmanuel Nnamdi Uba, or Andy Uba was elected Senator for the Anambra South Senatorial District of Anambra State, Nigeria, in April 2011. He ran on the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) platform.

He defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress in February 2017; the leadership crises engulfing the former ruling party PDP may have motivated his decision.

2. CHUKWUMA SOLUDO

Charles Chukwuma Soludo, CFR is an economics professor and a former governor and chairman of the board of directors of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). Chukwuma was named governor on 29 May 2004.

He is also a member of the British Department for International Development‘s International Advisory Group.

He runs on the platform of All Progressive Grand Alliance.

3. IFEANYI UBAH

Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah, is a Nigerian businessman, entrepreneur and currently the Senator, representing Anambra South Senatorial District in the Nigerian senate and CEO of Capital Oil, which he founded in 2001.

He runs under the Young Progressive Party (YPP).

4. VALENTINE OZIGBO

Valentine Chineto “Val” Ozigbo is a politician and business executive. He is the immediate past President and Chief Executive Officer of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria plc (Transcorp), a diversified conglomerate with strategic investments and core interests in the hospitality, agribusiness and energy sectors. He was appointed to the position in 2019.

Previously, Ozigbo worked as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the Nigeria-based hospitality company, Transcorp Hotels Plc. Transcorp Hotels is the hospitality subsidiary of Nigerian conglomerate Transcorp. He also worked in the banking sector, gaining over 17 years of experience with NAL Merchant Bank, Diamond Bank, Continental Trust Bank, FSB International Bank, Standard Trust Bank, United Bank for Africa and Bank PHB.

He runs under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

5. GODWIN MADUKA

Godwin Maduka, is a Nigerian-American doctor, businessman and philanthropist. He is the founder of Las Vegas Pain Institute and Medical Centre.

In 2008, he played a major role in the renaming of his hometown, from Nkerehi to Umuchukwu.

He runs under Accord Party.
